Cincinnati Bans the Sale of Stockings

CINCINNATI, Ohio (IB) – Cincinnati city councilmen recently passed a local ordinance banning the sale of women’s stockings within city limits. Additionally, business establishments currently selling stockings over the counter will have their business licenses revoked and be criminally prosecuted under the new ordinance. This is just the latest effort by Cincinnati government and Hamilton County to completely ban anything even remotely related to sex between two consenting adults.

The ordinance currently exempts the sale of pantyhose and tights, but local merchants are restricted to selling 5 pairs of pantyhose to any individual in any consecutive 30 day period. At the time of purchase, consumers must provide a state issued photo ID as well as their home address and telephone number in order to complete the sale. The customer information must be made available by merchants to local authorities for inspection. Also, citizens of Cincinnati found to be in possession of more than 15 pairs of pantyhose or tights will face criminal prosecution under the ordinance and be subject to incarceration of not more than 30 days and/or a fine of more than $1500. Males may not have any pantyhose or tights in their possession unless they register as a crossdresser or transvestite with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department.

This ordinance came into existence thanks to a study commissioned by the Christian Coalition. The study, which was conducted by doctoral candidates at Oral Roberts and Jim Jones Universities, concluded that women wearing thigh high or traditional stockings with garters in public or in private arouse impure and immoral thoughts in males exposed to ladies’ stocking clad legs and feet. The lust that is aroused by stockings causes males to masturbate, thus preventing them from fulfilling their marital duty of intercourse without the benefit of contraceptives. This results in a lower birthrate of children in fundamentalist Christian households, and places the fundamentalist movement in jeopardy of legislating away the basic rights of all American’s to pursue unconventional sex with willing participants.

The Christian Coalition expects to have similar local ordinances enacted in the 25 most populated cities between the Mississippi River and Utah within the next 3 years. Victoria’s Secret stores have already pulled pantyhose and stockings, as well as other lingerie items, out of select stores. This move has left millions of stocking, pantyhose and foot fetishists out of luck, and out of nylon products. In these same markets, there has been a corresponding rise in the theft of stockings and pantyhose out of private residences. One couple in Little Rock, Arkansas was accosted at gunpoint in their home by a man who demanded all stockings and pantyhose in the house. Police are still searching for the suspect.
